The Yorkton Film Festival is the oldest film festival in North America and is celebrating its 65th Anniversary on May 24-27, 2012. As a board member and co-chair of the marketing committee, Katrina is committed to making this one of the best years of all time. Last year, we celebrated the journey to Yorkton with a "Twitter Road Trip". All the people in our classic Skylark convertible tweeted our way to from Saskatoon to Yorkton (except Dave, he was driving). Our passengers represented the Film Festival's attendees: David Shultz: established filmmaker and one of Canada's best directors and writers. When we arrived in Yorkton, Emme and Katrina received the Key to the City. Truly. Our road trip was followed by the potential of 11,000 people on twitter. In addition to an interview the morning of the roadtrip with CBC radio, we also had broad on-line coverage from our partners Chop Chop Hair Salon and Mint Fashion Company. One of comments we heard from the public was "Looks like this was an awesome trip. Great photos, as always! I lived near Yorkton for a few years and had no idea about the film festival until I read the tweets from Katrina et al. So I’d say you guys did the trick in raising awareness for the event. Also, you’re so right – small towns in SK always have the best Chinese food!" If you think that sounded fun...stay tuned to see this year's shenanigans and be sure to check out the video that Emme made of our trip: |
